What is your teaching philosophy?

Want to make practicing your instrument fun? The secret is to choose what you want to learn. When I teach, I give recommendations of repertoire and etudes that the students will enjoy so they are motivated to practice. I graduated with a B.M. at Berklee College of Music in 2021.

In your opinion, what is the right way to teach and what do you do in your lessons that makes you a good teacher?

Start with technique or warmups and then work on a tune or two to build repertoire. The end of the lesson is a chance to talk about what to work on for next week.

How many years have you been teaching music lessons?

I started teaching music lessons in college and have a total of six years of experience.

What are you most proud of in your musical career?

I am most proud of the musical movie I was a part of as a guitarist and singer that will be released next year!

What’s the best compliment you have ever gotten as a music teacher?

A student said: “I’ve looked up to you ever since I first started jazz and I’ve learned so much from you through the years.” That meant everything to me.

What country have you traveled to that you like the most and why?

Italy. It was super fun exploring the city of Rome and trying all the delicious Italian food.

What languages do you speak?

English

If you could perform with any musician (alive or dead), who would it be and why?

Stevie Wonder because he can do it all – he’s an amazing vocalist, pianist, and songwriter. His music has inspired me ever since I was little. I would just love to jam and exchange musical ideas with him.

Do you have any interesting or unusual hobbies? If so, tell us about it.

I like doing “Activate” and escape rooms with my friends and family. They’re both fun team-building exercises.

What are you currently listening to on the radio, iPod, iTunes, Spotify, etc.?

My mood right now is Earth Wind and Fire to Joao Gilberto.
